[TOP] Just over a year ago you two barely knew each other. He was obviously the famous rapper of BIGBANG whilst you were working for an international IT Firm and just got sent from America to work in Seoul. You couldn’t speak any Korean at all but somehow you managed to be TOP’s girlfriend and started to live together with him really soon.

He put his keys in and turned the door knob. The lights were turned on so he guessed you were home already. “7:00pm.. hmm…she’s early for a change” TOP thought to himself. He hesitated whether to loudly announce that he’s back or give you a surprise and decided the latter one. 

He found you in the bedroom and hugged you tightly from behind. “Hey baby, I missed you” he whispered into your ears. 

You smiled and turned around to give him a kiss then he noticed that you were packing. 

“Do you have to go on another business trip again? Is that why you are early today?” TOP asked as he took the hanger from your hand. 

You replied him whilst continuing to pack, “Yeah.. I guess you could say that… but maybe it’s slightly different this time…”

You zipped your luggage and turned around to face him, “I…my..my company is sending me back to America, I’m actually getting a promotion of three ranks. I’ll be taking the regional post looking over Asia but I’ll be based in America…” you paused to look at his reaction. 

He dropped the hanger on the floor, “So that means we won’t see each other?” he asked as calmly as he could. 

“I’ll still be flying to Korea at least 3 times each year…” 

You waited him to digest the news and respond. He held your hand, “Do you really have to go?” 

“It’s a very rare opportunity and it is really important for my career, I can’t just leave it like this.”

“Then what about us? What about me?” 

“That’s why I wanted to talk to you.” You paused and took a deep breath before continuing, “Since I won’t be by your side all the time, I’ll understand if you want to break off our relationship and find another girl, we can still be good friends.” You tried to force a smile on your face.

“WHAT ARE YOU EVEN TALKING ABOUT?!?! WHY WOULD I DO THAT?!” he shouted at you. He grabbed your wrist and pulled you to his chest and held you tight. “I would never let go of you, let’s get married”

Your heart skipped a beat. But you quickly regained your senses and pushed yourself away from him, “No I can’t marry you now. You said that because you are shocked by the news, you don’t really want to marry yet. I don’t want you to regret in the future, I don’t want to regret either.”

“No! That’s not true, I really want to marry you!” TOP protested.

“Let’s not talk about this now, you are just confused and lost right now. There’s no way we are getting married now. You aren’t prepared for it and neither am I. This won’t lead to a happy ending. What about BIGBANG? What about your fans? You can’t irrationally just decide something like this.”

“…I don’t know what to do… just tell me what to do that would make you stay…”

“Baby, I have to leave. Lets give ourselves some time to think about it okay? And in the mean time can we just enjoy ourselves tonight since I’m leaving tomorrow night” you looked at him to see if he was going to reply. “You haven’t eaten dinner yet right? I’ve made some nice dinner for us, lets go to the dining room and eat shall we?” you said as you pulled his hand.

You made TOP sit down as you went into the kitchen to bring out the food. “Jagiya, lets forget about everything else and just have a good time tonight okay?” Reluctantly, TOP nodded his head and gave you a smile. “Fine.. I can never win any argument with you” he said with a forceful smile. 

After dinner, both of you washed the dishes together like a married couple. Then you went and put on a movie and snuggled close to TOP on the sofa. “What time is your flight tomorrow?” TOP asked you after the movie.

“9pm.”

“Okay. Lets go sleep now” he suggested. But in the end both of you ended up chatting until 2am. He hugged you tightly the whole night.

You woke up at 9 in the morning the next day and carefully got out of the bed without waking him up. You took a shower and got dressed to leave. You looked at the sound asleep TOP and whispered saranghae before you turned to leave the room.

You searched in your bag for and took out a letter addressed to TOP and left it on the coffee table before you dragged your luggage and left the house.

You got down to the streets and got a cab to the airport. You went through your bag and checked you had your passport and plane ticket.

Boarding time: 12 pm

TOP woke up two hours later to find that you weren’t by his side anymore. He went around the house shouting for you but there wasn’t a reply. He got his phone out and called you.

“Yeoboseyo?” 

“Hey where are you? I woke up and you were gone already” he asked worryingly. 

“I’m at the airport now, you don’t have to come” you replied.

“What? It’s only 11am now, your flight is at 9pm, isn’t it too early?”

“I’m sorry, I lied. My flight is at 12pm. I’ll be boarding soon.”

“Why did you lie? Wait for me, I’ll get changed and come over now…” he ran back to the room and searched for clothes. 

“DON’T!” you demanded.

TOP stopped for a moment, “Why?”

“Don’t you get it? I don’t want you to come. If I see you, I don’t think I can leave. But I’ve already decided that I have to so please don’t let me see you before I leave. Please…”

TOP didn’t reply. There was an awkward silence.

Finally you broke the silence, “I…um.. I gotta go now..” you said faintly.

“Yeah.. I understand…” he replied, “…call me when you arrive…bye then…”

“Okay I will…and.. um.. I’ve left you something, it’s on the coffee table… bye then… saranghae..“ 

You tried to hold back your tears as you cut the phone. You could feel how helpless TOP felt through the phone. He really wanted to come see you but he didn’t want to make you feel bad and there really isn’t a way to get the airport quick enough. 

You went through immigration and went to board your plane. You took out your phone and sent him one last message before your plane took off. 

I’m so sorry for all of this coming at you so suddenly. Thank you so much for everything you gave me this year. I really really really appreciate it. And I really really really do love you. Saranghaeyo and Komawoyo.

TOP checked his phone and saw your message, he couldn’t stop the tears rolling down his cheeks and eventually he cried himself back to sleep. 2 hours later he woke up and remembered that you left him something on the coffee table.

He walked up and saw the letter you left him. Carefully, he tore open the envelope and took the letter out.

To my dearest Jagiya, Oppa, Baby…..

I’ve been so busy these five months with all my internal assessments, extended essays, tok presentations, revision and mocks that I didn’t have time to write anything.

I’m so sorry! 

But then I’m so happy that I actually gained followers even though I wasn’t even active! Thank you so much to those new followers! I love you all!!

[TOP] “He..ee..hello.. Wow didn’t expect to see you two here..” you mumbled.

“Hey what’s up bro!” Hyun Joong said as he gave TOP a brotherly high five.

“Sup! How’s your date” TOP replied half heartedly.

“Ahh it’s so nice to see you two!” Joyce said as she gave you a hug, “we can go on a double date! Do you mind?”

TOP and you exchanged glances. You both gave a modest nod whilst Hyun Joong enthusiastically agreed “I’ve never been on a double date. It reminds me of Boys Over Flowers when Jun Pyo and Jan Di went on a double date with Jan Di’s friend and her boyfriend!”

“Aw your boyfriend is so cute! I’m so happy for you! You two look so cute together” Joyce whispered into your ears.

“Thank you!” you replied and gave her a soft smile and blushed.

“TOP shii look at them! She’s blushing now!” Joyce teased you.

Hyun Joong looked at you and held your hand in his right hand and pointed at your red cheeks with his left hand “Transfer your blushing to me” he said out of the blues.

You paused and your eyes widened wondering what was happening, then you burst out laughing “Oppa your really are the 4D leader of SS501!!”

“WOW your boyfriend is so sweet!!” Joyce complemented him.

“After years of knowing you, you still have that amazing 4D personality bro!” TOP chuckled.

Hyun Joong looked at your cheeks and stared at it for a long time, “Why is it not traveling? Your cheeks are still red…”

You looked at him in amazement and started laughing. Joyce and TOP both joined you whilst Hyun Joong looked blankly at you all. “I don’t know why it’s not working… Maybe I’ll have to hold on to your hand longer… I think I can’t let you go!”

“Ya! Oppa! You are so cheeky!! You just want to hold my hand!!” you joked. “Aniyo!! I want to cure you too! Look! Your face isn’t red anymore! Thanks to me!” Hyun Joong replied innocently.

“Alright let’s go inside shall we? I’m starving!” TOP announced.

The dinner was full of joy and laughter. TOP revealed how you were like when you were a child to Hyun Joong whilst you told Joyce how TOP was bullied as a kid.

Without noticing it, time went by very quickly and it was time for the restaurant to close. TOP and Hyun Joong split the bill and each drove their girlfriend back home.

Hyun Joong got out of his car and walked over to the passenger seat to open the door for you.

“Thank you” you said softly with a smile. You took his hand and helped yourself out of the car. “Thank you for today, I has a wonderful time.

“I really hoped some alien would have stopped time for us today, I haven’t had so much fun for a long time. I’ve concentrated so much on work that I neglected myself. Thanks to you, I could finally enjoy myself. I don’t know what I’ll do without you. Saranghaeyo” Hyun Joong said as he kissed your forehead.

You blushed and tried to break the silence, “Opp..Oppa! You are making me embarrassed!!” you said shyly. You were happy to hear what he said buy for some reason your heart seemed to struck when he said he doesn’t know what to do without you. Why? Is it because you think you’ll leave him? Does this mean you don’t want to be with him? What does it mean? You don’t know… Or do you?

He ruffled your hair and kissed your forehead again, “I’m sorry, I can’t help it. Saranghae. Have a good sleep!”

“Ne, Oppa please drive safely home.” You turned around to hide your blushing face. “Goodbye!” you shouted as you ran back inside.

You fiddled with your phone in bed and thought about your date today. It was a magnificent day, seriously a dream come true. But you can’t help but notice TOP’s expression on his face. He did seem like he was enjoying the dinner but it didn’t seem to be the genuine laugh or genuine smile. It seemed like he was hiding something beneath. But what was he hiding?

“Ah stop thinking weird things!” you shouted at yourself as you buried your face in your pillow. You rolled round and looked at the photos you took with Hyun Joong today on your phone. 

“Oppa is so cutee” you said with a smile on your face. “Saranghaeyo” You leaned forward and kissed your phone.

Vrrr. You removed your lips from your phone and noticed that TOP sent you a message. You froze for a minute and didn’t know what to do. When you regained your senses you unlocked your phone to see his message:

Are you free tomorrow? I wanna talk to you about something… I need to get something right…

You replied him with an okay and wondered what he wanted to talk about…

Is this the weird feeling you’ve been getting? What will happen tomorrow?

[TOP] Under the same blue sky on two different beds, you and TOP both ask each other the same question: Who do I like?

You reached out for your phone and looked through Hyun Joong’s message and can’t help but smile at his sweet text. No doubt you like him. But how much?

As a fan? As a friend? As a girlfriend?

Some how your fingers scrolled to your conversation with TOP. You flicked through your message history and tried to find the first message you sent each other not knowing why. But it wasn’t possible. Your message history with him was too long. It was as though he was by your side the first day you were born.

TOP was still holding on to his phone. “Why do I feel so weird?” he asked himself. He unlocked his phone and looked at the photos he took with Joyce in these two days. None of them were extremely intimate but they make a nice couple and form a wonderful picture. He flicked through his photo album and reached to a huge series of photos of you and him.

Both of you took a deep breath and texted each other the same text - perhaps this was fate or it was the telepathy you developed in the twenty years of being friends. “What are you doing on Saturday?“ Vrrrr. You were both shocked to get such a quick reply. You both unlocked your phones and found out you sent each other the same message and couldn’t help but laugh.

“Do we know each other that well?” you asked yourself.

“Are we actually meant to be together?” TOP asked himself.

“Hyun Joong invited me to dinner on Saturday.” Sent. 

You waited impatiently for a reply from TOP. What would he say? How would he react? Does he feel the same way as you? What do you want him to say? Vrr.

“Oh nice. Joyce and I are going out too on Saturday.” Sent.

You let out a deep sigh, “What was I even thinking?” you asked yourself. “What did I even expect? Did I expect him to tell me not to go? He was the one that put me and Hyun Joong together. Why would he even do that? Besides he likes Joyce.. What am I even thinking of?” you scolded yourself. You buried your head in your pillow. Does this mean I like him?

“Why did I send her that?” TOP thought to himself. “Why did I feel the need to tell her that I’m fine without her? I’m not. Why did it hurt to know that she was meeting Hyun Joong on Saturday? Why do I care? I have a date on Saturday too. Why do I care? CHOI SEUNG HYUN, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING! You can’t steal your bestfriend’s girlfriend. You aren’t even sure if you LIKE her! She’s just your childhood friend. Then why do you care so much?” TOP bombarded himself with a whole lot of questions that he knew he couldn’t answer yet. Does this mean I like her?

Neither of you two contributed to the conversation anymore after TOP’s reply. 

Neither of you knew what to say.

Without knowing it time flew by very quickly and it was already Saturday, the day of your date. It was absolutely a lovely date to begin with. Hyun Joong came and pick you up in the morning and gave you a beautiful bouquet of red roses. He organised a whole itinerary of things to do with you. It was seriously an ideal date.

But for some reason TOP was on your mind. Images of TOP and Joyce floated in your brain and you couldn’t help but feel confused about why you cared. And to make things even more complicated, the four of you coincidentally met each other in the same restaurant for dinner…
